The Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council recognized Appleton Coated with an award at The Earth Day Business Sustainability Awards.
To better represent its comprehensive capabilities and extensive product offering, Appleton Coated has unveiled a new identity.
A recent acquisition has ensured that Combined Locks (WI) company Appleton Coated stays in the Fox Cities and is positioned to thrive.
Expanding its Pharmaceutical Insert (PI) Opaque offering, Appleton Coated has introduced PI Opaque High Bright. This product was designed and manufactured specifically for high-speed production of pharmaceutical insert and onsert projects in both traditional offset and high-speed web inkjet platforms.
For the fourth year in a row, the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council named Appleton Coated a "Green Master" in recognition of its sustainability efforts in the state. Appleton Coated was the first coated mill to be certified by the Forest Stewardship Council in North America. In addition, the company increased its offering of printing papers made with high levels of post-consumer recovered fiber.
Appleton Coated has been purchased by Virtus Holdings LLC, a new company formed by members of Appleton Coated’s management team. "We are excited about our plans for the future of the company and are very grateful to our customers, suppliers, and employees who have stood with us through the sales process," stated Doug Osterberg, Appleton Coated’s CEO.
Continually expanding into new markets, Appleton Coated has introduced a new uncoated product line, Appleton Coated Fiscal Opaque. Designed and manufactured specifically for the financial printing and commercial printing segments, it is offered in both offset and web inkjet rolls.
Two swatchbooks from Appleton Coated will be presented with Gold and Silver awards during the Gold Ink Awards ceremony at GRAPH EXPO 14 in Chicago. A Gold award will be given for the new Curious Collection swatchbook, designed by Appleton Coated’s Judy Brochtrup. The Utopia Swatchbook, designed by The Thorburn Group, will receive a Silver award.
Appleton Coated has expanded its Website to now feature Pharma Insert Opaque, Coated and Uncoated Web Inkjet papers, and several customized product solutions. "The success that we are having in partnership with our new and existing customers has been very positive," said John Mazuroski, Appleton Coated’s business development manager for technical and specialty products.
Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum has revealed four, new limited-edition type specimen sheets, sponsored by Appleton Coated. These specimen sheets are among the first artifacts to be printed at the museum’s relocation within Two Rivers, WI. “After nearly a year of packing, loading, moving and fixing, we are happy to complete the successful transition and welcome visitors to our new home,” said Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum’s director, Jim Moran.
