For the most part, coated and uncoated offset papers run reasonably well on toner-based digital systems but, with inkjet, it's a whole different ball game. Inkjet inks have a high water content, and tend to soak into uncoated papers or sit up on coated papers where they may smear.
NORTH CHELMSFORD, MA—Book printer Courier Corp. has placed an order to install the fourth manroland Lithoman web press at its Kendallville, IN, facility. The press is expected to be installed by the end of the year.
Revenues for the quarter were $64.9 million, up 6%, and net income was $1.8 million vs. $1.6 million in the third quarter of its 2009 fiscal year.

NORTH CHELMSFORD, MA—Book manufacturer Courier Corp. has given the green light for the installation of a fourth manroland Lithoman web press for its Kendallville, IN, plant. Like the previously-added models, this Lithoman will have four printing units on a single 57.5" web. It will be equipped with semi-automatic plate changers for faster makereadies and include the manroland Quickstart package.

NORTH CHELMSFORD, MA—Courier Corp. has installed an HP T300 color ink-jet web press to expand its service offerings to include digital printing for manufacturing books. With the HP T300, Courier can drive profitable growth by offering 1,200x600 dpi imaging in a speed and size combination that produces 2,600 letter-size pages per minute.
Courier is installing the digital color press at its North Chelmsford, MA, facility to gain more flexibility in its book production capabilities.
