According to Jeffrey Pallis, president of DS Graphics in Lowell, MA, after just one month of adding a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 Peak Performance perfecting press, Ripon is already “ripping through the work,” printing flawless wall-to-wall color, including dense reds and blues on text weight stock at 18,000 sph in perfecting mode.
HP carefully selected a group of 23 same-sized printers from the region to bring in for its "Print Your Future" color inkjet web press event. The two-day excursion, held at the Burlington (MA) Marriott and the headquarters of host printer DS Graphics in Lowell, MA, came just two weeks before Christmas. That HP was still able to round up a captive audience at a time when printing companies and executives are preoccupied with end-of-year housekeeping speaks to the due diligence it performed in culling the invite list.
DS Graphics has installed an HP T200 color inkjet web press, enabling the communications services provider to double its business volume with some clients and expand its portfolio of services. “This equipment, with its roll-fed technology, is taking our company to the next level, with greater flexibility and efficiency against cut-sheet devices,” said Bill Nethercote, executive vice president, DS Graphics.

The eight- and 10-color models, each with an aqueous coater, are capable of running at 18,000 sph in perfecting mode on all substrates, and are reportedly the first two perfectors of this speed sold worldwide.
Heidelberg has made a successful start to the drupa trade show and is pleased with customers’ investments. “At the show halftime, Heidelberg has already concluded numerous contracts from around the globe and in all commercial and packaging printing sectors across the entire product portfolio,” stated Bernhard Schreier, CEO of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG.
