Although Americans will represent a very small percentage of the expected 350,000 visitors converging on the fairgrounds’ 19 halls filled with 1,850 exhibitors, the new products and technology demonstrations at drupa provide a compass point for the technological direction that the U.S. industry will take for years to come.

The vibe of drupa starts long before the gates open at Messe Düsseldorf. Duomedia hosted its pre-drupa event on March 6-7 in Portugal, featuring announcements—and one compelling teaser—from Chili Publish, Enfocus, Esko, Kodak, Xeikon and X-Rite/Pantone.

Eastman Kodak Co. has instituted a pay freeze for its U.S. employees for the next 12 months. “We are working hard to accelerate our transformation into a self-sustaining and profitable digital enterprise through a number of restructuring initiatives aimed at creating a competitive cost structure,” the company said in a statement Tuesday.
The pay freeze comes in the context of those restructuring efforts “and based on our regular review of our overall compensation position relative to the market.”
Kodak declined to say how much savings it expected to see from the freeze.
The company employs 5,100 people in the Rochester area.
ROCHESTER, NY—Kodak and Graphic Innovators are partnering to provide customers with new opportunities to expand their offerings using hybrid inkjet printing. The agreement establishes Graphic Innovators as an authorized sales agent of Kodak Prosper S-Series imprinting systems to customers in the Americas region.
