The Gegenheimer Individual and Corporate Awards for Industry Service were presented to Jochen Meissner, president and CEO of Goss International Americas, and manroland Inc., respectively. The award program recognizes leadership and participation in NPES and industry activities, civic leadership and technical innovation.

WEST HAVEN CT—GHP has ordered a new Akiyama Jprint perfecting press from Goss International, which represents and supports Akiyama products in North America. The 10-color press will be installed at GHP’s facility here later this fall.
GHP, an offset and digital printing shop, has ordered a new Akiyama Jprint perfecting press from Goss International to be installed at the company’s facility in West Haven, CT, later this fall. “We were convinced this was the best option for premium print quality, efficiency and overall value,” said John Robinson, CEO of GHP.
Offset press output still comprises 90 percent of the printing done, by some accounts, but you wouldn’t know it based on all the attention given to digital inkjet- and toner-based devices at Graph Expo. Lithographic press manufacturers aren’t standing still, however.
Goss International will use this year’s GRAPH EXPO show to highlight recent web press projects in North America, where commercial printers selecting Goss presses to replace older technology or enter new markets have given the company a near-unanimous market position through 2010 and 2011.
Royle has purchased an additional Goss Sunday 2000 web press with a 57" wide format and gapless technology to complement its existing Sunday press that was installed in 2008. It also has installed two high-speed Harris saddlestitching systems, both equipped with in-line mailing and personalization features.
Solisco Printers is installing a Goss Sunday 3000 web press with a 75" width, DigiRail inking technology, an advanced Goss Ecoset dryer and dual folders. Lower waste, faster job changes and the opportunity to triple productivity with the same crew size make it easy to justify replacing less efficient capacity with an advanced Sunday press system, said Alain Jacques.
Dartmouth Printing has added a second Goss Sunday 2000 web offset press to its facility, signaling the completion of its objective to achieve automated closed-loop color control throughout the entire plant. The new press features nine units and produces a four-color signature with the ability to lay an additional PMS color.
The Charleston (SC) Post and Courier has experienced significant performance improvement since implementing a Goss enhancement program. The program has involved upgrading the reelstands of two Goss Metroliner presses comprising 10 units and seven half-decks.
Vertis Communications is installing a new Goss Sunday 2000 press in its direct marketing facility in Chalfont, PA. The technology will enable hyper-personalized marketing for industry-leading clients, including American Express, Macy’s, Citigroup, Chrysler and Ford.
