The Ben Franklin Honor Society of Printing Industries of America recognizes and honors industry leaders who have made lasting contributions to advancing the printing and graphic communications industries. At the black-tie awards ceremony last week, seven industry leaders were formally inducted into the esteemed society.

Frank Tummino, account executive for production print solutions at Canon Solutions America, has been elected to serve on the board of directors of the Printing Industries of the Gulf Coast (PIGC). A 25-year veteran of the printing industry, Tummino prides himself on serving as a trusted advisor to his customers.

At the official drupa 2012 International Media Conference, more than 100 media delegates eagerly awaited to hear about the latest drupa product launches that were going to be revealed during the three-day press briefing. Werner Matthias Dornscheidt, CEO and president of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, reported that the show is sold out.
Smith-Edwards-Dunlap Co. (SED), which was established in 1880, and Graphic Arts Inc., which dates back to 1928, have merged. Each company will continue to do business under its present name. However, operations will be combined into the 120,000-square-foot SED facility.
The family-owned printing firms will continue to do business under their present names, but operations will be combined into the 120,000-square-foot Smith-Edwards-Dunlap facility in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. “The synergies of this combination of talent and equipment will result in a winning equation of 1+1=3,” added Jonathan Shapiro, president of Smith-Edwards-Dunlap.
