New feeder technology from Heidelberg, the Stahfolder PFX (Pallet Feeder eXtended), has been honored with an InterTech Technology Award from Printing Industries of America. The Stahlfolder PFX Feeder was recognized for its success in extending the proven benefits of the stream feeder technology used in Heidelberg offset presses to the folding department.
When Texas Litho President Rex Chu took over his family's business three years ago, he implemented several changes, along with production manager Matthew Welsh. The company feels in-house production at the Heidelberg sites in Germany are no longer competitive under the new market conditions, thus the relevant operations are being discontinued. The lone exception is production of folding machines at its Ludwigsburg site, which will continue.

Heidelberg’s Speedmaster XL 145/162 PSP printing presses are now available with increased maximum speed and top productivity up to 18,000 sph for the Speedmaster XL 145 and 16,500 sph for the Speedmaster XL 162. The new PSP speed class presses are designed for converters requiring maximum throughput and minimal waste.
Printing Industries of America (PIA) has announced the recipients of its 2014 InterTech Technology Awards. An independent panel of judges deliberated over the selection of technology nominations, which showcased the dynamic nature of the industry.
