Heidelberg has achieved its key goal of making an annual profit. The net profit for financial year 2013/2014 was € 4 million (previous year: € -117 million). The next step is to secure the Group's sustained profitability in the years ahead by expanding growth segments, implementing portfolio measures and introducing structural cost projects.
Strategic cooperation between Heidelberg and Gallus has reached a new level. After completion of the latest transaction, Heidelberg will directly and indirectly hold 100 percent of the shares in Gallus Holding AG. Gallus is a leading supplier in the packaging industry for labels and folding boxes.
Heidelberg has chosen the top 10 entries in its "Be unbeatable. Be a Speedmaster." video competition. The entries that made it into the final cut included videos from Germany, Spain, Brazil, Indonesia, the Philippines, and New Zealand. Kodak, Agfa and Heidelberg have joined together to file petitions with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (PTO) in an effort to combat patent licensing demands made on their customers by CTP Innovations. The petitions, through an established process with the PTO known as Inter Partes Review, seek to invalidate U.S. patents 6,738,155 and 6,611,349, which were acquired by CTP Innovations and are being asserted against the customers in patent infringement lawsuits brought by CTP Innovations, a non-practicing entity.
Following five years of losses, Heidelberg has started making a profit again. According to preliminary calculations, the net profit for financial year 2013/2014 was around € 4 million. This means the company has achieved its key target for the financial year just closed.
