Five years after introducing Saphira aqueous coatings to the market, Heidelberg recently began manufacturing the coatings locally at its new Hi-Tech Coatings plant, located in the Detroit suburb of Taylor, MI. A ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening was held Aug. 30, 2012. The plant has been in production for several months. Visitors to the Heidelberg booth at GRAPH EXPO will not only learn about Heidelberg’s extensive portfolio of commercial postpress solutions, but will also see Heidelberg finishing solutions handle materials printed on a Speedmaster 52 Anicolor press, as well as output from its toner-based Linoprint Pro C901 cut-sheet electrophotographic and EFI Rastek large-format digital inkjet devices.
Heidelberg’s Speedmaster 52 Anicolor press will take center stage during demonstrations in booth 1214 at GRAPH EXPO 2012. Throughout the show, twice daily presentations of the “Anicolor 30-Minute Performance Challenge” will show printers how Anicolor technology can help printers meet their customers' needs.
At GRAPH EXPO 2012, Heidelberg will demonstrate a flexible, seamless solution consisting of a Speedmaster SM 52 Anicolor press, EFI Rastek H652 UV flatbed inkjet printer, and Linoprint Pro C901 digital press—all united by Heidelberg’s integrated color management and Prinect workflow.
GRAPH EXPO will be offering a free live webinar on September 18, 2012. The Alphagraphics franchise in Idaho Falls, ID, had been subbing out its four-color work to an out-of-state printer and “hated it,” according to owner Lynn Nelson. The company has now mapped out a clear path to growth with the installation of a Speedmaster SM 52 Anicolor press.
Print is still a significant aspect of an integrated marketing package. And that's where Graph Expo can provide its greatest support in the quest to define who you are, as a printer, if this whole "marketing" thing leaves you confused and frustrated. Want to talk marketing? Let's worry about marketing the printer's capabilities first.

David McGinnis, owner of Think Printing in Richmond, VA, said he wanted to wait for the economy to begin to recover from the recession before purchasing a new press. “The recession made me a better businessman,” he explained. “I learned to evaluate every expenditure in detail. We had a layoff at the peak of the downturn, but I’ve rehired everyone since and even added personnel.”
At GRAPH EXPO 2012, Heidelberg will encourage printers to look beyond individual machine specifications to grasp the bigger picture and bottom-line benefits of end-to-end production integration. Visitors to the booth will see these benefits clearly demonstrated, not only to the printer, but also—and equally as important—to their clients.
