PITTSBURGH—Printing Industries of America (PIA) has announced that a dozen technologies were recipients of the 2012 InterTech Technology Awards. The technologies receiving this award have been judged as "truly innovative and are expected to advance the performance of the graphic communications industry," according to PIA.
Around 1,800 shareholders today participated in the Annual General Meeting of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) for financial year 2011/2012, which was held at the Congress Center Rosengarten in Mannheim. Just under 38 percent of Heidelberg’s share capital was represented at the event.

HEIDELBERG, GERMANY—Heidelberger Druckmaschinen announced that CEO Bernhard Schreier will not be extending his management contract with the company and will step down at year's end following nearly 13 years as CEO of the press manufacturer. Dr. Gerold Linzbach will become CEO effective Sept. 1.
Heidelberg has announced the following new CTP system, sheetfed press and postpress product installations at Cube Services, BAMA Printing, Econo Print and Keno Graphic Services. Cube Services found itself in urgent straits recently, its existing platesetter having broken down in the midst of the company’s move to larger quarters.

Following its successful expansion into the wide- and grand-format retail visual merchandising marketplace, Sandy Alexander has now “gone small” with the purchase of a Heidelberg Speedmaster 52 sheetfed press. “We are now platform agnostic,” asserted Mike Graff, president and CEO.
Heidelberg projects incoming orders for the first quarter to have increased to some €890 million (previous year €665 million)—the highest level in four years. As expected, preliminary sales for the quarter were slightly down at around €520 million (previous year €544 million).
The trade show booth of Heidelberg has won the renowned “red dot award: communication design 2012” presented by the North Rhine-Westphalia Design Center. This year, the international panel of judges assessed 6,823 entries from 43 countries in a total of 21 categories.
