HEIDELBERG, GERMANY—Ricoh Co. and Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) announced a global strategic cooperation, starting with a global distribution contract for Ricoh’s Production Printing Product portfolio.
The agreement enables Heidelberg to sell Ricoh’s latest color digital press, the Ricoh Pro C901 Graphic Arts Edition, as well as appropriate future production printing offerings. It will start in April 2011, beginning with the United Kingdom and Germany markets.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA—Heidelberg USA has donated a high-speed, programmable Polar 92 XT paper cutter with CompuCut to California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), for use in the organization’s Graphic Communication Department curriculum and Graphic Communication Institute for research and training.
In the third quarter of Heidelberg’s financial year, both incoming orders and sales were up on the previous year. At EUR 684 million, orders increassed 12 percent and sales reached the highest level for the current year at EUR 687 million.
The new, JDF-compliant programmable Polar 92 XT guillotine paper cutter replaces a 10-year-old Polar cutter for use in the California Polytechnic State University’s Graphic Communication Department curriculum and Graphic Communication Institute for research and training. The new cutter was dedicated during Cal Poly’s four-day celebration of the 2011 International Printing Week.
