LOWELL, MA—King Printing has become the first North American book manufacturer to install a new HP T350 color inkjet web press speed upgrade. The HP T350 inkjet web press is 50 percent faster than the HP T300, which King Printing had installed in 2010. It is running at 600 fpm and producing up to 3,927 letter-size ppm.

Tursack Inc., a Consolidated Graphics company, has officially launched its new capability to produce grand-format digital prints on HP Scitex LX800 and FB500 inkjet printers. “The installation of the HP systems starts a new and exciting phase at Tursack,” said Aaron Grohs.
The HP Scitex FB700 inkjet printer will enable Vertis to print vivid images, brilliant colors and white ink on an expanded line of large-format substrates, including glass and corrugated plastic. Earlier this year, Vertis installed two HP Scitex large-format printers.
HP will be hosting an wide-format inkjet printing event in its new HP Graphic Arts Experience Center in Alpharetta, GA on June 15-16, 2011. Prisco customers will have an opportunity to experience the highly productive HP Scitex FB7500 and HP Scitex TJ8600 printing systems in action.
Alert readers will recall that O’Neil was a beta installation for the first HP T300 30-inch Inkjet Web Press in 2009. The company now has the complete HP inkjet web press portfolio: the HP T200, T300, T350 and the new 42-inch, T400. Just for good measure, two HP Indigo digital presses are on hand for cover work.

The current high-speed inkjet web presses from vendors such as HP, Océ, InfoPrint, Screen and Kodak are exciting but impractical for most general short-run commercial printers. “They’re too expensive, too large, and too limiting for the range of substrates and formats commercial printers need,” says David Davis, a director at Interquest. “They’re great for many specialty providers such as book printers, direct mail and transactional printers, where these products have made a big impact in short order.”
