With contracts received to date, the Solutions Showcase exhibit hall is already 13 percent larger than last year. The show floor will be segmented by solutions related to commercial print, direct marketing, label and packaging, photo, publishing and grand-format printing.

The idea behind a photo book is relatively simple—reprint in book format a bunch of your digital photos for display, sharing and safe keeping. Now, a group of photo imaging industry companies and organizations, including a few business rivals, has formed a consortium to standardize the store experience when creating such photo tchotchkes and to promote the fact to consumers they can make such swag.
Membership in Innovations in Photo Imaging includes Kodak, Xerox, Fujifilm North America, Hewlett-Packard Co., Noritsu America Corp., Independent Photo Imagers Inc. and the Photo Marketing Association International.
At Innovationdays, over 5,000 international experts and professionals in the areas of print-on-demand, data center, direct mail and web finishing are expected to gather to see demonstrations of real-world workflows utilizing the latest in digital print and paper processing technologies.
“Admiral Products has demonstrated the ability to print using the Color-Logic Process Metallic Color Process utilizing its HP Indigo ws4500 press,” explained Color-Logic Technical Director Richard Ainge. Admiral Products is a printer for the packaging industry and marketing services provider.
When the company used a dry-toner digital press, the term “digital printing” served as a warning that affordable, shorter-run printing and one-to-one personalization came with a trade-off in quality and consistency that did not match the firm’s high-end reputation.
FedEx Office Print & Go enables customers to access and print documents directly from BlackBerry smartphones and USB flash drives on select Canon printing devices within the self-service area at the company’s retail locations. It’s available at more than 1,600 locations.
Regulations recently set forth by the FDA and European Union have limited or completely banned the use of certain materials in specific applications. To meet this requirement, Merritt Graphics has placed into service an HP Scitex LX800 latex inkjet printer.
Its Irvine, CA, integrated media solutions facility has installed two HP Scitex printers and an MGE digital finishing system. “The addition of the HP equipment allows Vertis to quickly turn around the highest quality large-format campaigns, including those requiring a wide range of output materials or significant volume and customization.
