PITTSBURGH—Printing Industries of America (PIA) announced the recipients of the 2012 Best Workplace in the Americas Awards. A total of 36 graphic arts companies, both PIA and non-PIA members, were selected by a committee of human resource experts from within the industry.

COLUMBUS, OH—Hopkins Printing has announced the purchase of a new Heidelberg Speedmaster five-color sheetfed press for its pressroom. Running at 18,000 sheets per hour, the XL106 will enhance the company’s printing capabilities while also boosting efficiency and productivity.

The Hopkins Printing lobby and training room were transformed into a learning center and health fair for all of its employee owners earlier this week. A team of nurses conducted 10-minute health screenings for employees as well as their spouses.
Hopkins’ extended plant space houses new wide-format digital printing and finishing equipment, including a Roland SolJet printer, Zund router and a RollsRoller flatbed mounting and laminating system. Mike Barrett has joined the company as manager of the additional production space and wide-format equipment.
