CHICAGO—RR Donnelley and KBA AG, of Wuerzburg, Germany, announced an agreement to develop, manufacture and sell next-generation inkjet printing solutions for the packaging, securities, commercial and newspaper segments. Under the terms of the agreement, RR Donnelley will license its Apollo and other piezoelectric imaging technologies to KBA, which will incorporate them into its press offerings.

Wichita, KS-based Rand has purchased a KBA Rapida 205 five-color 81″ sheetfed press with coater due to be delivered in June 2011. It specializes in point-of-purchase print applications. “There’s no question it will make us much more efficient,” Randy Vautravers, president, said.
KBA North America has promoted Bruce Richardson to its web national sales manager. In this position, Richardson will be overseeing the KBA web accounts for both newspaper and commercial customers including the new high-performance, fully automated C16 and Commander CT press models.
