(Cerutti) in Italy have signed an agreement transferring to Cerutti for an undisclosed sum all KBA’s intellectual property rights (know-how, industrial designs and patents) relating to rotogravure printing presses for magazines, catalogues and decorative paper. KBA will design and manufacture the folders for all new Cerutti publication rotogravure presses. In addition KBA will continue to provide after-sales service for the rotogravure presses it sold up to the date of the transaction. Stitch in Time Saves Nine NORWELL, MA—Smith Print, a full-service commercial printer in the greater Boston area, recently installed a Vijuk 321-T saddlestitcher equipped with six pockets plus cover feeder. The new stitcher was sold and will be serviced locally by Pasquariello Graphics. Frank Stanley, bindery foreman, and Tom Plourde, lead bindery operator, were involved in the final decision-making process and worked closely with Vijuk technicians during the installation and operational training. WOODRIDGE, IL—08/30.07—KBA North America, a leading sheetfed offset press manufacturer based in Williston, Vt., is honored to be producing a new press for All Out, Inc., a commercial printer. The shop has experienced rapid growth after seizing the large format market with the installation of a KBA Rapida 142 56-inch five-color press in July 2006. The new press, which will have six color units plus interdeck UV capabilities, will be installed in All Out, Inc.’s newly-expanded 37,000 sq. ft. facility in December 2007. “We have experienced significant growth since the installation of our first KBA press,” says J.B. Group Visits KBA’s German Headquarters RADEBEUL, GERMANY—KBA North America invited a select number of U.S. and Canadian printers, as well as industry journalists, to visit its headquarters and sheetfed press manufacturing facility here recently. The group was treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the factory assembly hall; the R&D facility; product demonstrations on the new-generation, 41˝ Rapida 105 five-over-five perfector press and the large-format, 56˝ Rapida 142 four-over-four perfector; and visits to several area printers that are utilizing KBA presses in sophisticated markets.
