This initiative will provide newspapers with highly specialized expertise, engineering services and modular technology for upgrading of existing facilities to reduce costs and improve productivity.
Accord Carton will become the second package printer in the world to install a next-generation seven-color Roland 907-6 press with coater. “In the last five years, we've gone from $7 million to nearly $40 million in sales,” reported Robert Codo, president.
ALEXANDRIA, VA—Stephenson Printing, a web, sheetfed and digital printing specialist based here, will soon take shipment of a new Roland 700 HiPrint high speed sheetfed press, the first U.S. installation of the manroland machine. Stephenson produces a variety of multipage products including publications, catalogs, annual reports, direct mail, booklets, brochures, inserts, newsletters, calendars and flyers.
Compared with the same period in the previous year, manroland’s incoming orders rose by 13 percent to total €520 million. The already good volume of orders in the sheetfed sector increased slightly once again (+2 percent). The webfed sector recorded considerable gains in orders (+33 percent).
manroland and Univacco Foils Holland BV have entered into a cooperation agreement that initially covers joint development and sales activities in the field of cold foil. They have developed a new type of foil that, together with selected system components from manroland’s printcom product portfolio, provides outstanding results.

PITTSBURGH—Printing Industries of America (PIA) has announced the recipients of its 2011 InterTech Technology Awards. The technologies receiving this recognition have been judged as truly innovative and are expected to have a major impact on the graphic communications industry.
Entries in Printing Industries of America’s 2011 InterTech Technology Award program demonstrated great strides in technology for packaging software, inkjet printing, workflow automation, offset press efficiency, UV curing and variable-data printing. Eight innovative technologies were selected to receive the award.
After nearly three years, a successful reorganization and an improved order intake will allow manroland’s press manufacturing site to return to normal working hours. The sheetfed press sector, based in Offenbach, in particular has been benefiting from the positive economic development.
