The British engineering group, Langley Holdings, has emerged as the investor behind a takeover of manroland’s sheetfed printing equipment division, its production facilities (including all real estate in Offenbach, Germany), and the marketing organization active in more than 40 countries.

The business taken over by Possehl is to be conducted in the newly founded “manroland web systems GmbH.” Uwe Lüders, chairman of the board of the Possehl Group, assumes primary management of the company. Around 1,400 workers will find a long-term and secure employment with manroland web systems GmbH.
Stephenson Printing installed a Roland 706 HiPrint HS with coater, the first of its kind in North America. Allied Litho purchased a 56˝ Roland 900 six-color press with UV/IR coater to augment the capacity of a similar 73˝ press purchased 30 months earlier.
AUGSBURG, GERMANY—The breakup of manroland AG is officially under way. L. Possehl & Co. (Possehl Group) has agreed to buy the insolvent press manufacturer's web unit here while investors are sought for the sheetfed offset unit in Offenbach and assembly operations in Plauen. The purchase price was not disclosed, and the deal is pending a final decision by the creditors.
Insolvency administrator Werner Schneider emphasized that the vote by the creditors’ committee was not a formal decision, but rather a recommendation. A final decision will be reached in the meeting of manroland creditors. All parties to the meeting agreed to remain silent on the purchase price for the company.
Two bidder concepts for manroland AG will be submitted to the creditors’ committee this Wednesday. Based on the current status of negotiations, it’s safe to assume that a sale would permit the continued existence of the company’s three manufacturing sites in Augsburg, Offenbach and Plauen, Germany.
AUGSBURG, GERMANY—Bankrupt press manufacturer manroland is reportedly picking up interest from a number of interesting parties, and the legal auditor overseeing the process is confident a deal can be reached with an investor to save the flagging firm.
Twenty of the printing industry’s foremost suppliers have signed on as sponsors for the upcoming Vision 3 Summit to be held Feb. 19-22, 2012, at the Marco Island Marriot in Marco Island, FL. The second-annual executive leadership conference has the theme “Focus Your Vision on Transformation and Growth.”
“We now have parties seriously interested in all three production sites in Augsburg, Offenbach and Plauen (Germany), with whom we are involved in ongoing negotiations,” said Auditor Werner Schneider. Manufacturing at the German sites is continuing without any restrictions.
“Our service and parts departments are operating as they normally would,” reported Vince Lapinski, CEO of manroland Inc. North America. “Our top priority remains, to provide the service support our customers have come to rely upon and expect going forward.”
