OFFENBACH, GERMANY—Insolvent press manufacturer manroland AG has secured an agreement for “Massekredit” (similar to debtor-in-possession financing) through Werner Schneider, the provisional insolvency administrator.

manroland’s mass credit (similar to debtor-in-possession financing) of €55 million includes €10 million in the form of a cash drawing facility, and a further €45 million is a so-called “partial” mass credit in which the lending banks release part of the forgone loans.

Through a debtor in possession insolvency procedure, the executive board of manroland aims to rescue key units within the framework of ongoing restructuring efforts. Negotiations with a potential investor failed in the home stretch. Another dramatic downturn in incoming orders triggered the decision.
FRANKFURT, GERMANY—A European investor with ties to machine engineering is reportedly negotiating with the primary shareholder of press manufacturer manroland to acquire the firm. Citing two sources, Reuters said the unnamed investor has been in talks with Allianz Capital Partners, which is manroland's majority shareholder.

Executive Board member Dr. Markus Rall, responsible for the business sectors Sheetfed Printing Systems and Production at manroland AG, is to leave the company of his own accord in October 2011 to seek new career challenges. His duties will be taken over by CEO Gerd Finkbeiner.
