Touting what he called "the new MBO America," Lance Martin, director of sales, told a group of industry journalists Wednesday that the company is looking to shed its image as simply a manufacturer of folding machines and focus on its range of products and services. These include web finishing, packaging, mailing and pharmaceutical folding systems, as well as an analysis service in which MBO technical experts will analyze customers' folding processes and recommend improvements.
MARLTON, NJ—Beginning Monday, MBO America will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a four-day open house in the Philadelphia area. The company's top executives and engineers—including Chairman Frank Eckert and Frank Bahmer, director of International Sales and president/CEO of MBO America—will be on hand to personally share recent development strategies.
MBO management will meet with print industry VIPs, July 28-31, for an Open House event taking place at MBO America's new headquarters and demonstration facility in the Philadelphia Metro region. The event coincides with MBO America's 30th anniversary and the 10,000th installation in the Americas.
The K8 RS combi-folder, from MBO America, is now available in North America. The K8 RS combi-folder is capable of production speeds up to 275 m/min, reportedly making it the world's fastest folding machine and representing a 20 percent increase in production output over the previous model—the K8 Perfection.
MBO America is sponsoring two upcoming industry events: the Binding Industries Association (BIA) Annual Conference, being held in Dallas on March 31-April 2, 2014; and the Inkjet Summit, held in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, on April 7-9, 2014. Participation in, and sponsorship of, these events—with more on the horizon—further confirms the company's commitment to its customer-empowering marketing and education initiative, announced earlier this year.
MBO America is readying an interactive demonstration and learning center, complete with a 4,500-square-foot showroom and 2,000 square feet of classroom space. It will offer basic and advanced versions of a flexible, non-commercial, tutorial curriculum that can be customized to meet application-specific needs of individuals and groups from one or more organizations.

Hartmut Sohn, product manager of MBO Digital, has retired from the company after 18 years of devoted service. A five-decade veteran to the binding industry, Sohn will be remembered for his expertise and ability to create customer solutions for specialized fold productions, earning him the nickname, "Mr. Origami."
KBA and MBO have signed a cooperation agreement on the joint international marketing of MBO folding machines. To kick off the partnership between the two manufacturers, KBA for the first time presented not only its Rapida 75 press, but also MBO's new 2013-generation folder M80 on its exhibition stand at Pack Print International in Thailand.
