Cal Poly Dedicates New Sheetfed Press SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA—Cal Poly’s Graphic Communication Department received the donation of a new Heidelberg four-color Speedmaster CD 74 press to commemorate the 60th anniversary of its establishment. OXNARD, CA—In early 2006, Ventura Printing acquired Business Mailing Center, a $2 million mailing and fulfillment firm in Oxnard. The combination of the new capabilities, a growing sales force and an influx of 40-inch work led the commercial printer to add another Mitsubishi press to its stable of sheetfed presses. The five-color, 40-inch Diamond 3000S is equipped with an aqueous tower coater and extended delivery. It is the fourth Mitsubishi press that Ventura Printing has purchased in 12 years. “In terms of size and run lengths, many of the jobs we have been receiving are a better fit for the 40-inch sheet size,”
G.F. Puhl Co. Building New Facility GALLATIN, TN—Construction is underway on a new 51,000-square-foot office and manufacturing complex for G.F. Puhl Co. Gregg Puhl, president, states that the new facility will improve manufacturing capacity and capability, and give additional storage space while providing a better work environment for office, technical service and manufacturing staffs. FAIRFIELD, NJ—01/23/07—Cooper Printing Co., Inc., a family owned, 30-employee commercial printer, added a Mitsubishi sheetfed press to its 32,000-square-foot facility. The 40-inch press, a six-color Diamond 3000S, is equipped with a Harris & Bruno anilox coater and will augment capacity for the $4 million firm. “Presses in general have improved dramatically over the past few years,” observed Tom Cooper Sr., who started the printing company in 1975. “The new technology on the Mitsubishi press outperforms earlier models.
