The On Demand Conference and Exposition in Washington, DC, felt more like a conference with an exhibit hall, rather than a trade show with an education track. Much of the show floor had the feel of the tabletop displays at Seybold Conferences.
Midland Information Resources has printed more than 500 million linear feet on its Océ VarioStream 9210 digital printer, the equivalent of one billion impressions. The technical manuals, educational materials and other documents produced on the Océ system represent valuable information products for Midland customers.
digi:media, the innovative forum for the entire digital process chain, will take place in Düsseldorf from April 7-9, 2011. There, manroland and its strategic partner Océ are to exhibit together for the first time. They will be joined by manroland’s subsidiary company ppi Media.
As a business process “plug in,” Business Ink focuses on compliance document production for target markets that include healthcare verticals and more than 2,000 state and local governments. This is the first such installation of an imagePRESS C7000VP in an existing Océ account in the western United States.
Differences in the inkjet imaging systems now being employed can have an impact—to varying degrees and relative to each other—on head cost, failure rate and cleaning/maintenance requirements; substrate flexibility; print resolution; color saturation; print width; and more. It doesn't quite rise to the level of an apples to oranges comparison, but the technology has very distinct flavors.

As printers become more specialized, it makes the in-/near-/off-line decision making process clearer. Turnover times and run lengths continue to shorten, but the need for quality hasn't been compromised, prompting many printers to take their finishing functions off-line.
