Presstek continues to develop and expand its digital plate portfolio to meet the widest range of offset printing needs. Most recently, the company announced Presstek PhD 830, a negative-working thermal pre-heat plate that is compatible with the industry’s leading thermal CTP systems.
The first, a five-color Presstek 75DI with coater, was sold to a commercial print operation in the Midwest. The second, a four-color model, was sold to a West Coast communications company. Presstek has sold seven 75DI presses since the product was commercialized this year, five of which are to be installed in North America.
Today it is becoming much more common to find printers using more than one printing technology. The trend in the future will be for much of the work to be done using a common workflow and for the output technology to be selected at the time of production.
