Quad/Graphics to Close Brown Printing Woodstock, IL, Facility

Quad/Graphics plans to close a former Brown Printing facility on 11595 McConnell Road in Woodstock, IL, before the end of summer, resulting in the loss of about 550 employees, according to the Northwest Herald. The action is in addition to the closure of Quad's St. Cloud, MN, operation, which employs 280. That shutdown is also slated for this summer.

Quad/Graphics Inc. is closing its 280-employee printing operation on Mayhew Lake Road here at the end of the summer. The closure of this former World Color facility comes in the wake of Quad/Graphics' acquisition of Brown Printing, reported the St. Cloud Times.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) exigent price increase went into effect on January 26 of this year. Since then, there has been a great deal of discussion and debate as to whether or not the increase should be permanent. No matter the final decision, the timing of the 2015 CPI adjustment will likely be affected by the outcome of the debate so the USPS can avoid having to adjust prices more than once during the year.

We expect one price increase in 2015, and that should be the annual CPI adjustment (currently 1.471 percent). Only Congress could change that
