MILWAUKEE—Rumors of printing's demise continue to spread, but the rumors can't wipe the smile off Joel Quadracci's face.
Joel Quadracci, chairman, president and CEO of Quad/Graphics Inc., spoke at a Greater Milwaukee Committee luncheon at the University Club in downtown Milwaukee on Monday about the evolution of his family’s company as it deals with a challenging industry.
“As you know, print is dead. We read about it all the time—in print,” Quadracci said with irony, drawing a laugh from the group.
Quad/Graphics, founded in 1971, has “transformed” itself in the last three years through a series of acquisitions, taking the company public and getting into new technologies and services, Quadracci said.
After it installs a new, highly productive 64-page web offset press this year, Quad/Graphics-Bogotá will become Colombia’s largest commercial printer in terms of production capacity. In addition to Colombia, Quad/Graphics other printing plants in Latin America include Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru.
