OKLAHOMA CITY—The addition of a new press at Quad/Graphics' plant here has bolstered the nine-year-old shop and will create 120 jobs, according to the Oklahoman. Gov. Mary Fallin pressed the "start" button on the new machine, the 12th press to be installed at this 1 million-square-foot facility.

Print copies of USA WEEKEND, a Sunday magazine, are inserted into 700+ newspapers weekly. Quad/Graphics new, longer-term agreement will include additional incremental print volume beginning in 2016, as well as additional freight, logistics and distribution services volume.
With the press of a button Tuesday, Gov. Mary Fallin fired up the newest printing press at Quad/Graphics’ Oklahoma City plant and essentially created 120 jobs. Attending a ceremony at the 1 million-square-foot printing facility at 6801 S Sunnylane Road, Fallin congratulated the company on the addition of its 12th press.
The new press has created more than two dozen new jobs already, and Quad/Graphics has nearly 120 full- and part-time openings to fill.
The plant opened in 2003 with 100 employees and two presses and has since more than quadrupled in size. Quad/Graphics now employs more than 600 workers

A crew from Hutcherson Metal brought down the four towers that once recovered the solvent from the ink used for printing magazines and flyers at Quad/Graphics, Mt. Morris, IL. The plant, which a mainstay of the Mt. Morris economy for 113 years, closed its doors more than a year ago.
Tempt In-Store Productions, a Quad/Graphics company, has been named a Featured Exhibitor for this fall’s Shopper Marketing Expo, a distinction that is reserved for only 25 companies. Tempt will be using the event to debut Actable interactive signage, which features image recognition, augmented reality, near field communication (NFC) or traditional QR codes.
Using Quad’s Actable interactive print solution, Maxim’s September issue enables readers to launch an on-page video of cover model Bar Refaeli simply by scanning the cover image with a smartphone or other mobile device. Eliminating the need for QR codes, the Maxim Motion app creates engaging multichannel editorial and advertising experiences.
Quad’s net sales for the second quarter totaled $934 million vs. $977 million for the same period in 2011. It repayed $42 million in debt during the quarter and $132 million year-to-date, while confirming annual synergy savings of more than $275 million from the integration of Worldcolor.
Quad/Graphics confirmed today it will cut between 50 and 60 jobs at the Kerper Boulevard plant in Dubuque (IA) by the end of the year. The company also cut 24 jobs at the Dubuque plant in May and said it was “looking at ways to maximize its efficiency and competitive platform,” according to Claire Ho, director of corporate communications.
After the final cuts are made, Ho said the Dubuque plant will have approximately 200 employees.
The company will offer current employees jobs at other plants around the country and if they are unwilling to accept those positions, they will be offered
