Joel Quadracci may be the luckiest man in the printing industry: the heir apparent in commercial printing’s royal family; the successor to a multibillion-dollar empire hatched through the blood, sweat and tears of his industrious father. Still, heavy is the head that wears the crown.
Quad estimates that the pricing under the new agreement will reduce its interest payments by $16-20 million annually. “Our improved balance sheet metrics combined with improvements in the credit markets made this an ideal time to refinance,” said John Fowler, Quad/Graphics executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Quad/Graphics Inc., the Sussex provider of printing and graphic-design services, is seeking $1.5 billion in loans to refinance debt, according to a person with knowledge of the matter. The company will host a bank meeting on June 28 in New York, said the person, who declined to be identified because the deal is private.
JPMorgan Chase & Co. is leading the transaction, which includes an $800 million revolving credit line and a $400 million term loan A, both due in five years, and a $300 million, seven-year term loan B, the person said.

Quad/Graphics will be purchasing a five-color Presstek 75DI digital offset press with an in-line aqueous coater. “Quad/Graphics is well aware that there is strong market demand for high-quality, short-run, fast-turnaround color printing,” said Joe Demharter, Presstek’s vice president of sales.
