The outlay includes new digital and offset presses, high-speed envelope inserters and commingling machinery, as well as significant upgrades to its Pewaukee, WI, plant. The facility will be transformed into a state-of-the-art, direct mail production facility, including a digital pressroom. QuadDirect’s gain is a loss for its West Allis, WI, facility. The printer scrapped plans for a 192,000-square-foot addition at West Allis, after studies revealed it would cost more than originally estimated due to soil conditions that would require additional foundation work for the building, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
NEW YORK—The ex-forklift operator at Quad/Graphics escaped a prison sentence when he was sentenced to probation after cooperating with the government in its investigation into a $6.7 million insider trading case that involved stolen stock tips from a magazine printed by the Sussex, WI-based printer. A federal judge here gave Juan Renteria two years of probation, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Renteria’s cooperation helped the government prosecute “more culpable defendants,” according to Judge Richard Howell, the paper reported.
