BR Printers has chosen the InfoPrint 5000 to meet the high demands of its customers looking for both color and monochrome short runs of books. Previously, it was outsourcing most color jobs and utilizing in-house cutsheet printers for monochrome jobs.

Wide- and grand-format printers really stood out around the show floor, with the size of some devices giving them the impression of being the new “heavy iron” in the industry. Even the new crop of inkjet presses for high-volume page production was overshadowed a bit by their wider brethren, as fewer vendors elected to bring machines to Chicago.
Offset press output still comprises 90 percent of the printing done, by some accounts, but you wouldn’t know it based on all the attention given to digital inkjet- and toner-based devices at Graph Expo. Lithographic press manufacturers aren’t standing still, however.
Instead of seeing a gaggle of tire kickers, the printers and trade finishers who perused McCormick Place South during Graph Expo 2011 had more sober intentions. There is clearly pent-up demand in the marketplace, particularly for finishing equipment.
EFI concluded a very successful GRAPH EXPO 2011 last week, with high visitor attendance, strong orders on the show floor, hundreds of qualified leads, and the most awards won by a single company in the Must See ’em award program’s history.
Ricoh will be implementing a Managed Document Services (MDS) solution for the New York Giants, bringing together industry-leading experience, technology expertise and robust services and tools designed to optimize the way documents are managed and document management fleets are deployed.
Ricoh announced the Pro C651EX/C751EX/C751 system in June and has already been shipping units around the world. It will demonstrate the new system at GRAPH EXPO 2011 in booth #2600.
Visitors to Heidelberg’s booth can expect to see the Ricoh Pro C901 Graphic Arts Edition press with in-line Booklet Maker and Cover Imposer; the versatile KAMA ProCut 74 platen diecutter and foiler, and the equally flexible KAMA ProFold 74 specialty folder-gluer, both for small- to medium runs; the Stahlfolder TH 56 6/4 pile-fed folder with vacuum table, card-tipper and HHS in-line gluing and camera inspection system; in addition to the new POLAR 92XT Plus with Compucut and bar code scanner.
Ricoh will demo the Ricoh TotalFlow Production App next week at GRAPH EXPO 2011 in Booth 2600. The app is a business development tool that helps commercial printers increase sales of high-value services via iPad-driven marketing presentations that guide face-to-face selling.
Representing state-of-the-art conventional production in the Heidelberg booth (#1200) at GRAPH EXPO will be a five-color-plus-coater Speedmaster SM 74 featuring Prinect Axis Control and the 40" Wallscreen display; and a five-color-plus-coater Speedmaster SM 52 with Anicolor zoneless inking system offering the highest print quality and a reduction in makeready and waste.
