Allianz Insurance, one of the largest general insurers in the United Kingdom and part of the Allianz SE Group, has awarded RR Donnelley with a five-year, multi-service contract to provide onsite creative design services along with print management and transactional print services. The first phase of services, creative and print management, will be managed from RR Donnelley's Huntingdon and Tewksbury locations in the United Kingdom.

The government of Argentina plans to seek criminal charges against representatives of a U.S.-based global printing company that abruptly shuttered its plant in the South American country, the president said Thursday.

Representatives of RR Donnelley may have sought to "create fear in the population" and undermine the economy with the plant closure and that could be a possible violation of an anti-terrorism law, President Cristina Fernandez said in a speech to announce a new housing program.

Minister of Labour Carlos Tomada has met with delegates from the bankrupt Donnelley printing business and graphical trade unions, and pledged his support following the abrupt closure of the multinational enterprise's Argentina plant.

During the encounter, which took place around midday, the workers, who have rejected the closure, received "total support and commitment" from the minister in finding a solution to the possible 400 lay-offs that closure would cause.

Employees of the RR Donnelley plant on the outskirts of Buenos Aires showed up to find the gates locked and a note on the door informing them the operation is now closed.

"We profoundly regret to inform you that, confronted by an insurmountable crisis and having considered all the viable alternatives, we are closing our operations in Argentina," the note read in part.

Mayor Rob Ford has broken his silence on reports he lobbied the city on behalf of clients of his family business, saying “I help out anyone that calls me.”

The mayor was asked Monday afternoon at a playground opening in North Toronto about a Globe and Mail investigation, and responded by saying that he’d done nothing wrong—though he stopped short of denying that he’d helped clients of his family business.
