R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company plans to offer $350 million of senior notes due 2024 in an underwritten public offering. The company intends to use the net proceeds from this offering, along with borrowings under its revolving credit facility.

“The highly competitive market conditions and unused industry capacity will continue to put price pressure on both transactional work and contract renewals across all segments,” R.R. Donnelley stated in its 2013 annual report. Translation: Underused presses + shrinking demand=lower print prices.

CHICAGO—RR Donnelley is looking to expand into Bloomington, IL, with a pilot program that would place a tech hub in the STL Technology Center. According to WMBD-TV 31, the project is awaiting two council approvals before it can move forward.

The acquisition will expand the capabilities of RR Donnelley's Language Solutions group, supporting clients' multi-lingual communications.

The economic development chamber spent months in negotiations with RR Donnelley, and now is just two council approvals away from starting a tech hub in the STL Technology Center in East Bloomington.
If Normal and Bloomington councils approve a request by the chamber to each give $75,000 to the pilot program, it could pave the way for 50 jobs.
