Under the terms of the deal, which renews, extends and expands the companies’ existing relationship, Donnelley will provide a broad array of products and services, including magazine and book production, logistics services (including co-mailing), and a print management program.

Helium is a writing community and social publishing platform, serving publishers and other content managers with local and lifestyle editorial content. Its freelance marketplace enables publishers and others to access and commission content used in books, Websites, catalogs, newspapers, magazines and other communications.
NEW YORK—Thomas Quinlan, president and CEO of Chicago-based RR Donnelley (RRD), was honored last Tuesday with the 25th annual Prism Award during a luncheon at Gotham Hall here attended by more than 400 industry leaders. One hundred percent of the net proceeds from the $750-per-ticket fundraising event help fund student scholarships, as well as student and program support, for New York University's School of Continuing and Professonal Studies (SCPS) Graphic Communications Management and Technology graduate program.
The program will feature presentations on key findings from two recent PRIMIR research studies. The first, “Evolution of General Commercial Printing: Implications for the Future,” will examine the industry’s evolution over the past decade. It will address, among others, changes in markets, technology, and industry structure that have a long-term effect on the future of print.

CHICAGO—RR Donnelley will permanently close its East Point, GA, plant in July, with more than 100 employees losing their jobs, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The company has been paring down its facility ranks in recent weeks, with nearly 400 jobs lost in Indiana and Iowa closures.
R.R. Donnelley & Sons will close its printing facility in East Point next month, and most of the plant’s more than 100 employees will lose their jobs. Next month’s closure will affect 114 jobs, according to a spokesman with the Georgia Department of Labor.
In a letter to the Labor Department, a company official cited “changing market conditions” for the planned July 23 plant closure. A message left with an R.R. Donnelley spokesman was not immediately returned.
About 40 non-union positions will be made available at the company’s Chamblee facility, and East Point workers can apply, though they will not be guaranteed
Each of the gold winning printers will receive $20,000 to support their marketing and brand initiatives, as well as entry into the competition for Sappi International Printers of the Year 2012 awards. Sappi’s Printers of the Year awards recognize print excellence and innovation.
