RR Donnelley served notice to the former Heartland Press plant in Spencer, IA, that it planned to close for good by March 13. The move leaves 160 employees without jobs. The plant was obtained by Donnelley in the Perry Judd’s acquisition.

R. Scott Bigelow, the vice president of human resources at RR Donnelley, on Tuesday informed city leaders that the company plans to close its Spencer location. The decision will leave 160 employees out of work.

The workflow will be re-engineered in a newly configured footprint at Chanhassen, allowing the printer to better meet customers’ transactional marketing communications needs in major metropolitan areas.
