Spiel Associates is hosting an open house on March 24-25 to showcase the the Sterling Doublebinder, a new, economical, layflat perfect binder that binds books as strong as PUR.
The Sterling Doublebinder employs a fan-gluing system that produces a book with a super-strong bind that lays perfectly flat by gluing between each sheet as well as spine.
The video employs an extreme pull test to demonstrate the benefits of the new Sterling Doublebinder layflat binder that produces up to 300 books/hour without the messy clean up of PUR systems.
For postpress, there was cause for optimism. While binding and finishing gear, in general, has a long life span, there was some speculation that printers looking to buy may opt for these types of upgrades/additions, which constitutes a far cheaper investment/risk in a sour economy than does a multi-million-dollar printing press.
Countless binding and finishing technology providers were candid in their positive assessments of how the scene went down in McCormick Place South. It wasn’t all cartwheels and champagne popping, but this year’s Graph Expo did exceed the expectations of many.
