RIPON, WI—Andy Lyke, president of Ripon Printers, has been named the 2012 recipient of the Harry V. Quadracci VISION Award, the Web Offset Association and Printing Industries of America announced. Lyke will be honored during the Offset & Beyond Conference to be held June 4-6 at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch in St. Louis.
GFI Innovations, manufacturer of the popular Mx-Series dispensing equipment, has just shipped their first machine to Europe. The Mx12 dispenser will be installed in Switzerland. The Mx12 is a private labeled unit for the Sun Chemical, and is based off the same technology as GFI’s Mx6 dispenser.
The Print Industries Market Information and Research Organization (PRIMIR) recently announced the officers and members of its 2012 Executive Committee. Eric Frank, vice president of marketing, KBA North America, was elected as the organization's chairman. A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Frank has more than 25 years of printing industry experience and is active in a number of industry associations.
Due to continued increases in the costs of key raw materials, Sun Chemical’s Rycoline Group will raise prices by 5 percent on most blanket lines, effective Jan. 1, 2012. The product lines affected include: SunBeam, SunBeam N, SunBeam 116, SunBeam 122, SunDot, SunSpot, SunDual and SunLazer

This provides opportunities to printers that can meet these demands. To date, digital printing has left packaging alone while expanding in publication printing.
Due to continued increases in the costs of raw materials and volatility in the supply chain, Sun Chemical will raise prices globally on all packaging inks for all printing methods and chemistries on Dec. 1, 2011.
Agfa Graphics announced that it will showcase the widest product portfolio at the company’s booth (#1227) at GRAPH EXPO 2011. Several wide-format inkjet systems will be running live at the show, including the new :Anapurna M1600, a 63˝ wide UV-curable, four-color printer that features white ink and Agfa’s flexible G2 inks.
Sun Chemical will raise prices on July 1, 2011, by 10 percent for all heatset inks; 10 percent on all Sun Chemical Rycoline blanket and roller solvent-based washes, specialty solvents and isopropyl alcohol; a minimum of 8 percent for water-based corrugated packaging liquid inks; and a minimum of 15 percent for all other water-based and all solvent-based packaging liquid inks.
Due to shortages and cost increases of raw materials, effective May 1, Sun will raise prices on all solvent- and water-based white inks by a minimum of 10 percent and Violet 23 inks by a minimum of 20 percent.
