WILMINGTON, MA—Francis Canzano Jr., president of Acme Printing, died Tuesday after a long battle with cancer. He was 67. A member of the Boston Litho Club, Mr. Canzano won numerous national and international awards in the graphic arts industry.
Having worked in every operating department on a part-time basis since a teenager, Francis W. “Fran” Canzano, Jr. began his full-time career at Acme in 1965 in sales. Fran quickly demonstrated strong performance as a result of highly-developed professionalism and resourcefulness; this resulted in being promoted to Vice President of Sales in 1969.
GARY STIFFLER considers himself a good judge of people. A 28-year printing industry veteran, Stiffler’s background includes stints with World Color and Quebecor World. During that time, he also became a shrewd arbiter of talent, appreciating the timber of employees that can enable a company to endure the peaks and valleys of business over the long haul.

PAWTUCKET, RI—The new parent company may be called MATLET, but a better name may be Old School. Several companies former owner Quebecor World determined to be non-core are experiencing a bit of a renaissance under the new leadership of Gary Stiffler and MATLET. Following the buyout of five companies from Quebecor World for $70 million, four of the facilities saw their local ownership restored. The names, which predated Quebecor World ownership, are Acme Printing, Wilmington, MA; Central Florida Press, Orlando, FL; Nova Marketing Services of St. Louis; and Packaging Graphics, Pawtucket, RI.
