The companies will work together to develop and execute in-store marketing and media programs for more than 200 independent retailers, starting in the second quarter of 2011. Alliance Marketing and its affiliates represent independent supermarkets in 15 states.

Valassis and The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) have entered into a new partnership that will maximize efficiencies across the A&P family of supermarkets and ultimately create a shopping environment that directly meets consumers' needs.
Quarterly revenues were $572.4 million, an increase of 5.2 percent compared to $544.1 million for the prior year quarter. Third-quarter net earnings were $27.0 million, an increase of 95.7 percent compared to $13.8 million in the prior year quarter. “Our strong results this quarter are consistent with our long-term plan to deliver annual mid-single-digit revenue growth and double-digit EPS growth,” said Alan F. Schultz, Valassis Chairman, President and CEO.
The company announced that it has commenced a cash tender offer to purchase up to $270 million of its outstanding 8-1/4% Senior Notes due 2015.
