By purchasing renewable energy credits (RECs) from Renewable Choice, Velocity Print Solutions is taking responsibility for the emissions generated from its electricity use and helping change the way energy is produced in the United States. Velocity also maintains an in-house recycling paper and corrugated program and is a FSC Certified Chain of Custody Printer.

Velocity Print Solutions has purchased renewable energy credits (RECs) from Renewable Choice. The purchase of over 900,000 kWh of American Wind REC’s—which is equivalent to offsetting 1,044,813.85 lbs of CO2—has an environmental impact that is similar to planting 12,152 tree seedlings and growing them for 10 years, or the removal of 98.73 passenger vehicles from the road for a year.
Velocity Print Solutions is closing a printing plant in Middlebury, CT, and moving the work to its production plant in Glenville, NY. By consolidating operations in New York, Velocity expects to create up to 20 jobs in Glenville over the next three years.
The company, which employs 70 people in Glenville, Schenectady County, will invest $300,000 to relocate equipment from Connecticut to New York.

Velocity Print Solutions will centralize its manufacturing facility from Connecticut to Scotia, NY, by the end of 2013. This centralization will include the addition of a six-color, 28x40" press with aqueous coating capability that will complement the existing offset and digital printing offerings.
Leading the award honors were Action Graphics of Lincoln Park, NJ; Castle Press of Pasadena, CA; Hatteras Press of Tinton Falls, NJ; and Specialty Print Communications of Niles, IL. Each company won five awards. Specialty Print Communications led the parade of Gold Awards, with three top prizes.
