MOSINEE, WI—Wausau Paper is trying to determine the next move for its division that manufactures paper for writing and printed publications. The floundering division is being reviewed by Wausau, and options could include a sale, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Wausau Paper Corp., which has struggled to restructure the division that makes paper for printed publications and writing, announced Monday that it is reviewing a range of options for the division, including a sale. Wausau Paper made the announcement as it reported a sharp drop in sales and earnings in the quarter ended Sept. 30.
“The company is working with its financial adviser in continuing to evaluate a range of alternatives for the print and color business,” Wausau said in a statement. “The results of that evaluation of alternatives are uncertain at this time.”
Net income dipped nearly 61 percent
Wausau Paper’s mill in Brokaw (WI) has been a major local employer for more than a century. A company memo obtained by the Wausau Daily Herald revealed that the Brokaw mill has been losing money for almost a decade, even as the company has taken steps to cut costs there.
