The Heidelberg press will be fully operational in the company’s plant here by the middle of January 2013.
With the purchase of a 40" Heidelberg Speedmaster sheetfed press dedicated to four-color work and two new digital color presses (Kodak NexPress and Xerox iGen4), Edwards Brothers Malloy can now accommodate four-color runs from one copy up to 3,000 books.
Interquest’s Digital Printing in Government and Higher Education Forum, which was hosted by the Government Printing Office in Washington DC, drew nearly 120 attendees—20 percent more than the 2011 forum. “In these challenging and exciting times, our attendees value the opportunity to learn from one another and find answers to the right balance of communication media as well as the role digital printing adds to the mix,” said Gilles Biscos, president of Interquest.
When it came time to select the first U.S. installation site for its new iGen 150 digital color press, Xerox chose mid-size, Washington, DC-area Copy General. “We’ve been a Xerox customer for over 30 years,” said Ken Chaletzky, Copy General president. “We have frequently been a beta site or early adopter of their equipment.”
Xerox has enlisted help from U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents to intercept shipments of solid-ink sticks that infringe on its patents. Distributed by Hana Corp. of South Korea, the ink sticks violate the International Trade Commission exclusion order (337TA, 549E), banning their importation. By law, agents can seize shipments as they cross the U.S. border.
NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies elected four new directors and re-elected several returning directors to the NPES Board during its business meeting on Nov. 12 at the organization’s 2012 Annual Conference in Indian Wells, CA. Christopher Payne, director and& vice president marketing commercial business, Eastman Kodak continues to serve as chairman of the board until 2013.
Mitchell Graphics, a Michigan-based digital and traditional offset printer, recently worked with Fujifilm’s Graphic Systems Div. to install a Xerox 770 digital color press as its new digital printing platform, and ColorPath Verified color management software, tying color control into the offset side of the business as well.
