Xerox Corp.
So what was new at GRAPH EXPO 2011? Not a lot, really, at least of truly major significance. Still, there were things worth talking about, and my next couple of blogs will cover some of them.
Xerox Corp. has been awarded a $103 million, five-year contract to provide printing services and technology for the Department of Defense. Xerox will manage the in-house printing for the Defense Logistics Agency Document Services.
EFI concluded a very successful GRAPH EXPO 2011 last week, with high visitor attendance, strong orders on the show floor, hundreds of qualified leads, and the most awards won by a single company in the Must See ’em award program’s history.
MOONACHIE, NJ—EarthDigital, the digital division of EarthColor and a provider of integrated digital printing, marketing and fulfillment solutions, announced the appointment of Cheryl Kahanec as the company’s executive vice president.
Each year at GRAPH EXPO, a panel selects the most interesting, innovative products and labels them “Must See ’Ems.” Bob Neubauer, Editor of In-plant Graphics (part of the Printing Impressions Group), checked out these products to see what makes them so unique.
The Xerox CiPress 500 Production Inkjet System, the world’s only high-speed waterless inkjet device, printing 500 feet per minute. Order taking begins immediately with installs slated for later this year.
Three of the new Xerox ProfitAccelerator Business Development Resources provide training in digital sales, financial management and marketing. The fourth combines consulting and software as a service (SaaS) to deliver a Web-to-print solution.
Sponsorships and partnerships can be combined to provide real benefits for all involved. We haven’t seen too much of this in the printing and document industries, but that’s changing with the Xerox presence at the U.S. Open tennis championship that’s underway in New York City.
Xerox Corp is bringing the world’s only high-speed waterless production inkjet device to GRAPH EXPO 2011, giving printers the ability to produce high-volume, lucrative personalized marketing, transpromo and publishing pages. Performers from the world-renowned Cirque du Soleil will join Xerox’s Chairman and CEO Ursula Burns for a keynote on Monday, Sept. 12 at 9 a.m. CST in the McCormick Place Grand Ballroom.
FCL has installed a Xerox Color 1000 digital color press, two high-speed automatic Muller Martini saddlestitchers and a MCS 600 Array inkjet unit for mailing. “Our customers look to us to make the investments required to provide the latest innovations to help them create effective communication pieces and to generate greater return on investment from their marketing and communication materials,” said said Michael Ford, president and CEO of FCL Graphics.
