Love LinkedIn Connections. Hate LinkedIn Pitches.
As a sales trainer and advocate, you’d think I would be more understanding of this, but I am not. If someone connects with me on LinkedIn, I am grateful and happy to help any way I can. But when someone pitches me through Messaging, I am instantly turned off.
Case in point, a recent exchange with “Dave”:
Dave: “Bill, I can save you money on your print needs.”
Me: “Dave, I can teach you how to make a better sales pitch than that.”
LinkedIn is a networking social media platform. Networking is not about what I can buy from you. Maybe it’s just me, but I do not accept contact requests just so that someone can try to sell me something.
Would love to hear your input on this …
