If you want to win more business, write down your daily goals
We have all been in the situation where by the end of the day we haven’t achieved a single thing that we wanted to. We have been hit again and again by unexpected events. We kind of knew what we wanted to achieve that day, but it all went out of the window.
However, if you write down your goals at the beginning of the day, you are far more likely to achieve them.
Here’s a study to prove that this works
One study was carried out by Dr. Gail Matthews, a psychology professor at the Dominican University in California. She gathered 267 people together. They were men and women from all over the world, and from all walks of life. She divided the participants into groups, according to who wrote down their goals and dreams, and who didn’t.
Dr Gail found that you become 42% more likely to achieve your goals and dreams, simply by writing them down on a regular basis.
There is science behind these results
If you simply think about one of your goals or dreams, you only use the right hemisphere of your brain, which is your imaginative center. But, if you think about something that you desire, and then write it down, you also use the logic-based left hemisphere.
Using the left hemisphere means that are far more likely to act to achieve your desires and goals. Writing means that your brain will work in a different, more productive way.
Write down three key things you want to achieve today
This could be making a call, sending a sales e-mail or something bigger, such as writing the copy for a sales letter. But, by writing it down, you have just hugely increased the chance of doing it today.
Make your three key goals about winning new customers and you are far more likely to carry out the correct sales activities.
