It is OK to Have Down Days
The truth is that we all have down moments and days.
Sometimes our circumstances and life events are sad. It is OK to feel the emotions that come with those circumstances and events.
I follow a number of motivational leaders on social media. I find myself wondering if these folks ever have down days? I wonder if I’m OK if I have down days.
Just like we all have days where our physical health may not be 100%, so will we have days that our mental health may not be 100%.
It is OK. OK not to be physically 100% every day. OK not to be mentally 100% every day.
The key is not to try and live up to what appears to be the social media standard of the “ideal life.” Rather, we all need to give ourselves permission to experience the ups and downs of life.
Bottom line is we all need to give ourselves permission to experience the wide gamut of emotions that life brings us. We all need to have coping mechanisms for dealing with our down days. Most important, if it feels like we are stuck for too long in our down days it is OK to ask for help. In today’s world there are many great resources, including many that are free, that can help us deal with down days without getting stuck there.
