Do you check your LinkedIn homepage regularly?
This is a five-minute task that I carry out regularly during the week. But I don’t just look at my feed. Here are five things that I do each time:
I always check who’s viewed my profile
If someone is interested in my profile, then it’s probably worth reaching out and connecting with them.
I like and comment on my connections activity
I always take a couple of minutes to scroll down and check what my network has been up to, to like the content if appropriate and to add a few comments. This only takes two minutes but this level of engagement is very worthwhile.
I add a quick update
If I don’t have something bigger that I’m posting, I add an update of what I’m up to. It helps me stay in front of my audience and people learn a bit more about what I do – you’d be surprised at the business enquiries that can come from this.
I check notifications
I check my notifications. Who has mentioned me or responded to my content? I always try and engage back. And notifications are also a good way to see if any of your network is changing roles.
I check messages
If I haven’t had a chance to do so before, I make sure that I am up to date with all my messages.
People who carry out these five activities regularly are much more likely to build stronger relationships on LinkedIn
And that means they are much more likely to achieve what they want from their social media activity.
