We are only five weeks away from the launch of PRINTING United and my to-do list — and my inbox — is quickly outpacing my ability to keep up with everything going on and all the information streaming in about the show.
While technology is always front and center at the Expo, education is equally important. There are a few events to keep in mind — if you haven’t already added these events to your dance card.
On October 22, the day before PRINTING United opens, three half-day intensive programs (from 1:00 to 4:30 pm) will kick off the experience: “Convergence Power Rankings: Where (and How) to Grow” with IT Strategies’ Marco Boer, “Wide Format 101: Strategies for Success” with SGIA’s Ray Weiss, and “Digital Textile Printing: What, Why and How” with Keypoint Intelligence/InfoTrends’ Ron Gilboa. The PRINTING United half-day intensive workshops require a separate registration fee. Make sure you get your ticket now and make plans to attend.
Additionally — and similar to previous years — PRINTING United features special community breakfasts and luncheons on the first two days of the Expo. These special educational events allow community members to learn and network with like-minded peers.
- October 23, Noon – 1:30 pm: Functional & Industrial Printing Luncheon
- October 23, Noon – 2 pm: Sustainability Strategies Luncheon: Inside and Out
- October 24, 7:30– 9:45 am: Women in Print Alliance Breakfast
- October 24, Noon – 1:30 pm: Apparel Decorators Luncheon
- October 24, Noon - 1:30 pm: Graphics Production Luncheon
Make sure you go online to get details for these events. Remember: tickets for these events are in addition to the education pass and are available while registering for PRINTING United.
And while you’re getting your educational plan solidified, be sure you add these new products — all launching at PRINTING United — to your trade show agenda.
Verseidag US is introducing seemee Signage Pro, B3832 at PRINTING United (Booth 9557). This product is an excellent addition to Verseidag’s premium signage products, seemee II and seemee IV. Developed for outdoor backlit signage market - with either Self Adhesive Vinyl (SAV) or printable graphics - Signage Pro offers a translucency rate at 40% along with the same durability and quality. This means reduced electricity costs without limiting output.
Debuting at PRINTING United (Booth 10143, Heidelberg’s new Digimatrix 60 FC is a flexible, small format die cutter and foil stamper. With a very small footprint, the Digimatrix can process sheets up to 23.6x17.7", ideal for finishing a variety of short run or small format jobs. With speeds of 5,500 sheets per hour, the Digimatrix also supports medium runs. The foiling version of the machine (FC) allows for hot-foiling on a wide array of substrates. The machine can be equipped with Masterset, which registers each sheet individually for excellent print-to-cut registration.
Gravotech is showcasing its LaserWood product, a material developed by Gravograph, at PRINTING United in booth 400. LaserWood is a natural, sustainably sourced wood product which is sourced from forests managed and controlled by PEFC. This environmentally-friendly product offers a variety of applications with different engraving results. It is safe to use with multiple technologies, from UV printing to laser and rotary engraving; and is available in various thicknesses, from all-natural Birch, Oak, Walnut, and Beech wood.
UniNet (Booth 426) is introducing the A4/Letter Size iColor 350, the industry’s first toner-based Dye Sublimation Transfer Printer, at PRINTING United. This system uses heat to transfer images in a one-step process onto white or light-colored polyester-based textiles and sublimation-coated hard surface substrates. With print speeds 100 times faster than Ink systems, there is no maintenance associated with this ink-based machine. The system “splits and tiles” to print oversized images without any special software.
