So, there we were in Stowe, Vermont, at a restaurant, having dinner after a 5-hour drive through hard rain. We were hungry and thirsty and hit the Idyletyme Brewing Company at precisely the wrong time. Right after we reached our table, one large group and four other small groups were seated in the same section, instantly overwhelming our poor waitress.
Where was management?
Where was her back up?
Who was supporting her?
Twice I had to leave the table and find someone to help get us silverware or to place an order. Both times it was a manager who was casually strolling around and my request was received as an intrusion.
My Google review was fair but not kind (you can look it up). It seemed to me the restaurant had too many customers for the amount of staff working that night.
I smelled greed.
To date, management has not replied to my review (yet another error on their part). I’ll take that as an agreement to my hypothesis.
My other thought is that the managers on the floor that night have never waited tables. That one didn’t occur to me until right now. It would be like a sales rep reporting to someone who has never sold before and therefore can’t relate or appreciate the points where support is needed.
Count yourself lucky if you have someone who checks in on you from time to time to lift you up or help you out.
You are working for someone who gets it.
