I have no idea why this works, but this works …
It takes a lot of energy, optimism, and enthusiasm to be in sales. Maintaining a high level of those three things can be exhausting and every once in a while, the tank runs empty.
Too many voicemails.
Too many rejections.
Not enough success.
When this happens, it’s natural to feel defeated. Like every other sales challenge we face, we need to have a strategy. Here’s mine…
- Clear everything off your desk.
- Grab the Windex and paper towels. Wash the surface.
- Stop and think: “Do I like where this desk is or should I move it?”
- Reestablish your desk items. This might mean putting things back exactly where they were or starting fresh. You will find yourself making lists as you come across ideas and opportunities. This is a good thing. You should start to feel that tank refill.
Over the years, I have used the simple reset whenever I feel the need to recharge my batteries. I can tell you firsthand, it works every time.
You’re welcome.
