Recently I spent 10 days on a cruise that featured Esther Hicks, who has written many books about the law of attraction and appeared in the original version of the 2006 film, "The Secret." Over the course of my next few blogs, I will share some of my learnings.
Third lesson: Perceive your desires as if they already existed.
A key to manifestation is to “act as if” your desire already existed. Some call this the “law of visualization.”
To “act as if” is very different than “fake it ‘til you make it.” “Faking it” can inhibit the law of attraction because it is not authentic and lacks the true belief in your future outcomes. The law of visualization requires authentic thoughts and feelings.
Perhaps one of the most important reasons for “acting as if” is because it focuses our mind on the future, not the past. Most of us, me included, can spend way too much time focusing on the past. Focusing on things that went wrong can result in those things repeating themselves.
Here is a truism:
- Something not wanted and not focused on cannot stay
- Something focused on cannot leave
It you think about it, this lesson is very similar to the second lesson in my last blog: thoughts become things.
Perceiving your desires “as if” they already existed is a great practice to sharpen our thoughts more precisely on the outcomes we desire.
As Esther Hicks says, “Satisfaction only comes from knowing our desires and moving towards them.”
