This 2017 Gold Ink Awards entry was entered into the Calendars category by Carlson Print Group, in Eden Prairie, Minn. According to Alexandra Burniece, marketing assistant, the Calendar is an annual marketing piece that the print provider produces each year for both existing and prospective clients. What makes the Calendar stand out are the specialized printing and various finishing techniques that were used to make the scenes of wildlife seem to pop off the pages.

The Calendar was printed on an eight-color, 40” Roland 700 HiPrint sheetfed offset press from Manroland Sheetfed with in-line foil, and Cast and Cure, coating. Other specialized techniques included a combination of Soft Touch, gloss, texture coatings and a matte varnish. The press run was 3,000 pieces. The cover incorporated an in-line cold foil and embossing, and the calendar was Wire-O bound.
